ARINGA ROSSA
Aringa Rossa is the Italian translation for “red herring”, a cinematographic expression which indicates a false trail or a diversion to throw off those following for then surprise them, revealing unexpected evolutions.
Instruction for use? Let ourselves go with the flow, be disconcerted at times. There is a through-line but it is underlying, hidden. It gives the work its evident unity while imposing a non rational, non logical openness on its audience, as there is a detailed compositional dramaturgy which is not necessarily narrative. Through layers of clues, Ambra Senatore weaves a unitary plotline with surprising developments: the flow of actions and encounters changes frequently and unexpectedly, yet the through-line is maintained.
With Aringa Rossa, the choreographer continues the exploration of human nature that has characterized all her work. A group, larger than usual, becomes a sort of champion for humanity, through which we may observe the nuances of community life and relationships.

Aldes/Ambra Senatore
Ambra Senatore works in Italy and in France. With joyfully ironic images and a touch of madness, working with the lightest of brushstrokes, Ambra Senatore offers her analysis with a detached, slightly facetious and shrewd humor, investigating the nuances of appearances and relationships. She focuses on the dramaturgy, weaving it together with layers of clues, a strong plot whose twists and turns surprise us continuously: actions swerve frequently and unexpectedly, without letting go of the underlying through line. Between dance, theatre and visual arts, her work explores the line between fiction
and reality. Her ability to use everyday images, picking out seemingly disconnected moments and grafting them onto each other, like a clumsily edited film – is a major asset in her work, subtle and unsettling.
